One of the most impressive examples of work in a very unforgiving wood species.The suggester will have to forgive my incompetence and note me. Carved wood skull in Cocobolo by *WaterwalkerWoodworks ( Featured by `KubusRubus )

I like how you worked the grain in btween the eyes, draws the eye centrally. With the tight grain bands into the sockets, countered to the wide. It balances very good. SAme with the lower jaw, narly rictus effect, Bravo Bravo..!!!

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. I have never used basswood, but I have a large block of Holly drying now. It should be ready in about 6 months.

If you would be so kind to answer a question . Have you a preference if choice is available, as to time dried or kiln dried wood.? Your welcome, I attempt some with wood. You've set the bar.

I use both, most of the rosewood is air dried, as was the cherry. mapleis kiln dried. If you're experimenting, start with basswood, lots less sharpening chisels.

I am currently working with elm. Seems it's easier to hone as I go. The grain and force needed tells.
